The Danube Kayak Expedition is an official expedition of the The University of Cambridge. It is affilliated to the Cambridge University Explorers Club (CUEX) and has charitable status through this affilliation. CUEX was founded in 1904 and is one of the oldest clubs of it's kind anywhere in the world. Over the years expeditions have travelled to all 7 continents and distinguished past members include Sir David Attenborough, Peter Scott and Sir Vivian Fuchs.
The Danube Kayak Expedition will aim to kayak 1,200 miles down the Danube from Vienna in Austria to Romania and the Black Sea. We will pass through 9 countries (Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine) and 4 capital cities (Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, Belgrade). The aim is to publish a detailed trip report together with information on logistics, equipment and advice. Hopefully this will aid others in planning similar trips, and in their environmentally friendly use of this beautiful river!
